About Us: Who You’ll Deal With, and How We Work

We’ve been roofing the Denver metro as Colorado Roofing and Remodeling since 2011, from our office on West Littleton Boulevard. (Looking for a Littleton roofer? Start on our home page.) We started this company because getting a roof replaced shouldn’t feel like a fight. Most homeowners we meet have already had a bad experience, whether that was a price that moved, a crew that vanished, or a warranty that turned out to be worthless.

Our answer to that’s built into how we work rather than into what we say. You get the price in writing before work starts. You pay nothing at all until the roof is finished, the inspection is passed, and you’ve walked it with us and told us you’re happy. If something goes wrong with our work after that, you have a written warranty with our name on it.

Who You Will Deal With

Colorado Roofing and Remodeling is owned and run by David Melvin. David still comes out to look at roofs and write the prices himself, supervises the crew on the job, and walks the finished roof with you before you pay anything.

Customers notice. One Google reviewer put it this way: "I liked the fact that the owner of the company came out to give me an estimate and supervised his own crew." David's name comes up again and again in our reviews.

What We Believe

The company was built on three principles, in this order: serve the customer, treat our people fairly, and treat everyone with respect. The middle one matters more than it sounds. Crews who are treated well take the time to do properly the parts of your roof nobody will ever see, and those are the parts that decide how long it lasts. They cut the valleys and flashing carefully when nobody is watching, and they don’t disappear halfway through a job.

Our Warranty, Stated Plainly

A roof can fail two ways. The materials fail, or the installation does. Those are covered by two different warranties from two different parties, and a lot of contractors blur them together. Here is ours, separated:

Materials
Limited Lifetime manufacturer warranty on shinglesManufacturer's terms and conditions apply.
Workmanship
10-year written labor warrantyProvided directly by Colorado Roofing and Remodeling.

Our crews have fifteen years of experience behind them and it shows in the work. You get the same people every time, not whichever subcontractor was available that week.

The Work Itself

Rather than stock photography of a crew that isn’t ours, here are photographs from our own jobs. The details are the honest test of a roofer: valleys, flashing, ridge lines and the transitions where two planes meet.

Roofs With Solar Panels

We have plenty of experience roofing around solar panels. A roof with solar on it has more penetrations, more flashing and more ways to leak than one without, and it needs to last as long as the panels do. If you have solar, or are planning to add it, tell us up front and we’ll plan the roof around it.

We don’t detach and reset the panels ourselves. We coordinate directly with your solar company to have them taken off before the tear-off and put back afterward, because the people who installed and warranted that array are the right people to handle it. Pulling panels with the wrong crew is a good way to void a solar warranty. Tell us who installed yours and we’ll work the schedule out between us. Our guide to replacing a roof with solar panels walks through the order of work.

Insurance

We carry general liability insurance, and will provide a current certificate on request before any work begins. Ask us for it, and ask everyone else quoting your roof for theirs.

Ask about contractor registration in your specific city or county too. Requirements differ across the metro, Denver proper runs its own licensing separate from the surrounding counties, and a contractor who is vague about it’s telling you something. It’s one of the ten questions to ask any roofer.
